INTRODUCTION
Welcome to SOUNDBOKS.com and the SOUNDBOKS App. The services are provided by SOUNDBOKS ApS (‘SOUNDBOKS’, ‘we’ or ‘us’). Our Privacy Policy provides information on how we process your personal data if
- you visit our website (see section B),
- you make a purchase on our website (see section C);
- you use our app (see section D);
- you get in contact with us by e-mail or through our online contact form (see section E),
- you subscribed to our newsletter (see section F)
- you have submitted an online application for a job at SOUNDBOKS (see section G).
In addition, this Privacy Policy contains information on your ability to withdraw your consent (see section H), our data sharing practices (see section I) and about your rights related to the processing of your personal data (see section J).
SOUNDBOKS will process your data in accordance with applicable legislation including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter ‘GDPR’).

The party responsible for processing your personal data, the so-called ‘data controller’ within the meaning of Article 4 no. 7 of the GDPR, is SOUNDBOKS ApS, Esromgade 15, 2200 Copenhagen N, Denmark, Company Registration number 36457597.
- DATA PRIVACY WHEN VISITING SOUNDBOKS.COM
- I. THE DATA WE PROCESS WHEN YOU VISIT OUR WEBSITE
When you visit the SOUNDBOKS website, our servers will automatically store various data about your system, such as the type and version of your browser, your operating system, the website from which you arrive at the website of SOUNDBOKS, the pages of our website you access, the date and time of your access, your IP address, your Internet service provider, and other similar data. We use such data to be able to make the website accessible, to detect and resolve any technical problems, and to prevent and, if necessary, prosecute any misuse of the SOUNDBOKS website. In addition, we use such data in anonymous form (i.e., so that users cannot be identified), for statistical purposes and to improve the website. The legal basis for processing personal user data is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (f) GDPR.
- II. HOW ARE COOKIES USED?
The SOUNDBOKS website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on the hard drive of the user to exchange certain settings and data with the systems of SOUNDBOKS via the browser. A cookie generally includes the name of the domain from which the cookie data is transmitted, information about the age of the cookie, and an alphanumeric identifier.

- III. HOW LONG WILL MY PERSONAL DATA BE STORED?
Personal data of visitors to our website will be erased if and when they are no longer necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. The law states that we can store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site. For all other types of cookies we need your permission. See additional details on your ability to withdraw your consent in section H.
- DATA PRIVACY WHEN PURCHASING PRODUCTS ON OUR WEBSITE
We process your personal data in the course of your purchase via our website for the purposes of payment, shipping, and handling of service requests, including if you want to cancel your order, return your order, or claim a warranty.
Therefore, we collect and store your contact information, such as last name, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address and payment details.
For these purposes, the legal basis for processing your personal data is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (b) of the GDPR. In accordance with the Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (c) of the GDPR and the Danish Bookkeeping Act personal data related to your purchases will not be deleted until after the current financial year plus 5 subsequent years.
- DATA PRIVACY WHEN USING OUR APP
To use the SOUNDBOKS app, we require you to create and be logged into an account. If you choose to not log in, the app will mostly be unavailable to you, but we may still track information related to your device for quality purposes.
- I. DATA PRIVACY WHEN YOU CREATE AN ACCOUNT IN THE APP
When you create an account in the app you are subscribing to updates, new features, software updates and other relevant changes and updates. When you create an account we require your email address, name and country. We use your e-mail address in order to contact you according to the above mentioned guidelines.
If you choose to create an account using one of the social logins, we will ask you to share the same information as above, and we will store a unique identifier, associated with the social login provider to allow you to keep accessing your SOUNDBOKS account via the same login.
If you choose to register your SOUNDBOKS speaker in the app, we may require you to provide the serial number on the product and the place of purchase. If you purchased the speaker from us we also require your order- or invoice number in order to verify your purchase and assess if you are eligible for extended warranty.
During your use of the app we may ask you for your interest and preferences. We use this information to optimise your user experience and provide you a personalised experience and personalised information on our products and services.
Moreover, your IP address and the date and time of subscription and email verification will be collected. This data is processed for the purpose of allowing us to reconstruct any possible misuse of your email address, and to determine your country of location.
The legal basis for processing of the aforementioned data is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (f) of the GDPR.
We will store your personal data while your account is active and up to 12 months after the account is deleted. Please see below under Section H how to withdraw consent and delete personal data.
If you have opted-in for our marketing emails, please see the data privacy section regarding marketing in Section F.
- II. INFORMATION WE COLLECT IN THE APP
When installing and using the app, we will collect information about your usage and your product to improve your experience, and to improve the quality of our products and services. The following sections describe what information we collect for this purpose. The legal basis for collecting and processing of the data is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (f) of the GDPR.
Usage information and log information
When you use the app, we collect usage data based on your behaviour, such as the configuration you have set on the product (e.g. volume, EQ mode and audio sources). In addition, we collect log information about how the product and the app is performing, and debug logs for assisting in resolving any technical problems.
Device information
We collect characteristics about your device, such as your hardware or software, operating system, connected speaker device, wireless and mobile connections and location information (IP address). We use this information to detect and resolve any technical problems.
Device identifiers
Our means of tying usage information and log information to a device is through the Firebase Installation ID.
The Firebase Installation ID is stable and is unique, and not linked to a user before the user logs in.
The Firebase Installation ID is regenerated when for instance the App deletes Instance ID, the App is restored on a new device, the User uninstalls/reinstall the app, or when the User clears app data.
SOUNDBOKS stores the Firebase Installation ID’s in an encrypted database. The Firebase Installation ID’s allow us to track the usage of the SOUNDBOKS speaker and the app, such as turning up and down the volume, how long you use the speaker, firmware version etc. We use the data to improve our products and services and to provide you with a personalised experience.
- III. HOW LONG WILL MY PERSONAL DATA BE STORED?
Personal data collected from users of the app will be erased if and when they are no longer necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, however no later than 12 months after you delete your account.
- DATA PRIVACY WHEN YOU CONTACT US
Our website and app allows you to provide us with feedback, ideas and suggestions by using a contact form or writing us an e-mail to info@SOUNDBOKS.com.
To do so, you may provide your name, phone number and email address, as well as the text of your inquiry and the purpose of your inquiry (career/media/events/general). Personal data transmitted to SOUNDBOKS in this connection will be used exclusively to process your inquiry.
The legal basis for processing data is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (f) of the GDPR.
We will retain your data as long as necessary for handling your request.
- DATA PRIVACY WHEN SUBSCRIBING TO OUR NEWSLETTER SERVICE AND PROMOTION MAILINGS
On our website and in our app, you may subscribe to our newsletter and promotional emails, and consent to the processing of your personal data to the extent necessary for this purpose. We use your name, e-mail address and order history to send you individualised information on our products, campaigns and events. The newsletters and emails sent to you include tracking pixels to track which of them are opened and which links you click.
The legal basis for this processing is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (a) of the GDPR in connection with Article 7 of the GDPR.
Moreover, your IP address and the date and time of subscription and email verification will be collected. The data will be processed exclusively for the purpose of allowing us to reconstruct any possible misuse of your email address. The legal basis for processing of the aforementioned data is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (f) of the GDPR.
You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by clicking the unsubscribe button in the emails.
We will store your personal data as long as you stay subscribed and delete your data latest 12 months after you withdraw your consent. Please see below under Section H how to delete personal data.
- DATA PRIVACY WHEN APPLYING FOR A JOB ON OUR WEBSITE
Our website allows you to apply for a job online at our Career Hub by using an application form.
- I. WHAT PERSONAL DATA WILL BE PROCESSED?
We will generally collect and store the following categories of personal data from you:
- contact information, in particular your first name and last name, your position if applicable, and your address, telephone number, and email address,
- information about your qualifications, in particular your academic credentials and other information included in your curriculum vitae, including information about prizes, scholarships, and extracurricular activities, information about your educational and professional experience, and copies of your academic transcripts and certificates,
- any photographs that you may enclose with your application, and
- information about any (planned or desired) future steps in your education or career and about your professional focuses and interests.
- II. FOR WHAT PURPOSES AND ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS WILL SOUNDBOKS PROCESS MY PERSONAL DATA?
If you choose to apply for a position at SOUNDBOKS online using our website, we will process your data to the extent necessary for processing your application. The legal basis for such processing is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (b) GDPR.
If your application does not result in a job offer, we would like to continue processing your data after the application process has been completed in order to notify you of future job openings and events at SOUNDBOKS that match your profile, and to send you information about current developments at SOUNDBOKS. We will process your data after the application process has been completed only with your expressed consent (Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (a) GDPR). You may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by using the ‘request to be deleted’ link in the application confirmation email you received from us. Your refusal or revocation of consent will have no impact on the processing of your application. However, without your consent, we will unfortunately not be able to contact you with regard to future job openings or events or to send you information about current developments at SOUNDBOKS.
- III. HOW LONG WILL MY PERSONAL DATA BE STORED?
If an application does not result in employment at SOUNDBOKS, personal data collected through the application form or otherwise for purposes of a job application will be further processed for evidentiary purposes for a maximum time period of three years after the application process has ended and thereafter will be erased or rendered anonymous.
If you have consented to the processing of your personal data so we can stay in touch with you and send you information, then your personal data that are stored for these purposes will be erased after a maximum time period of three years.
- WITHDRAW CONSENT & DELETE PERSONAL DATA
You have the right to withdraw any consent given at any time.
In addition, you also have the right to have your personal data deleted as defined in Art. 17 of the GDPR. Please note that any deletion of your personal data is subject to SOUNDBOKS’ legal obligations; hence, SOUNDBOKS may be prohibited in deleting all or parts of your personal data when specific legalisation requires SOUNDBOKS to keep such personal data for a defined period of time.

If you contact us via the email address with a request to withdraw consent and/or to have personal data deleted, please make sure to identify yourself in order for us to process your request as quickly as possible and within a 30-day period after receiving your request.
- WHO DOES SOUNDBOKS SHARE MY PERSONAL DATA WITH?
We may share your data with our service providers, marketing partners, vendors and other third parties as specified in the following paragraphs.
In the case our partners are not based within the European Union (“EU”), we make sure that your personal data is still adequately protected. When we transfer your data to so-called third countries, we do this either on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission affirming that the level of data protection in the recipient state is comparable to the GDPR, or we and our partners conclude so-called EU Standard Contractual Clauses (“SCC”) stipulating such a level of protection.
- I. DATA PROCESSORS
For certain technical data processing tasks, we are assisted by third-party service providers who will receive access to your personal data to provide such services. Those service providers have been carefully selected and meet high data privacy and data security standards. They are subject to strict duties of confidentiality and process data only on behalf and in accordance with our instructions. In particular:
- Google Cloud, Shopify, Klaviyo, Netlify, Facebook, Looker, Weld, Stitch, Rudderstack, Instabug, Sentry, DataDog
- II. OTHER THIRD PARTY RECIPIENTS
We work with companies and other entities with particular expertise in individual areas or certain specialised subjects (e.g. payment service providers, tax auditors, lawyers, consulting firms, logistics service providers). These are either subject to a duty of professional confidentiality or have been obliged by us to maintain confidentiality. Should it be necessary to forward personal data to them, the legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 sent. 1 (b) or (f) of the GDPR, depending on what the respective cooperation involves. Among these data recipients are:
- Shopify, PayPal, Nets, Affirm, Klarna, PensoPay, Quickpay, Viabill, Avalara, Deloitte, DSV, Fairtrans, Aditro Logistics, RK Logistics
- III. INTRA-GROUP DATA SHARING
We share your data with other companies owned by or under common ownership as SOUNDBOKS, which also includes our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and any subsidiaries it owns. These companies may use your personal data in the same way as we can under this Policy.
- IIII. BUSINESS PURPOSES
We may share your personal data with third parties in the context of any company transaction, such as a merger, sale of company assets or shares, reorganization, financing, change of control or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company or third party or in the event of bankruptcy or related or similar proceedings.
The legal basis for this is Article 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 (f) of the GDPR.
- IIIII. LEGAL OBLIGATION AND LITIGATION
In other cases, SOUNDBOKS will not transfer your data to any third parties without your express consent, unless we are required
- to do so by law, regulatory directive, or court order,
- to enforce our Terms and Conditions, including the investigation of potential violation thereof,
- to investigate and defend ourselves against third party claims or allegations,
- to protect SOUNDBOKS, its users or the public against harm to our/their respective rights, property or safety as required or permitted by law,

to detect, prevent or otherwise address criminal behaviour (including fraud or stalking), security or technical issues.
- YOUR RIGHTS WITH REGARD TO YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We safeguard data subjects' rights e.g., by processing personal data in an open and informed manner. This means informing you that we are processing your personal data and how, so that you have the opportunity to exercise your rights.
Under the GDPR, you have a number of rights in relation to our processing of your data.

You have the right to access the data we process about you.

If inaccurate information has been registered about you, you can have this information corrected.

Right to erasure
In special cases, you have the right to have data concerning you erased earlier than our normal deletion deadlines.

As we only process relevant and reasonable personal data, and in accordance with our legal basis in Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR and other legislation on debt collection, our processing of data cannot, as a rule, be further restricted.

The GDPR gives you the right to object to our processing of your data. We will then assess whether the objection itself is justified.

Right to data portability
The conditions for this are not met in relation to your data at SOUNDBOKS.

If we have disclosed personal data to companies outside SOUNDBOKS, we ensure that the companies are informed of any rectification, erasure or restriction measures taken.
- CONTACTING THE DATA PROTECTION AUTHORITY
If the Data Inspectorate should conduct an inspection or contact SOUNDBOKS, the GDPR responsible & external GDPR consultant will align with SOUNDBOKS Executive Management to ensure that the Data Inspectorate receives the requested information.
Furthermore, we ensure that we always comply with the deadlines that the Danish Data Protection Authority may set in connection with an inspection or an inquiry.
